Pharmacies Sell Scarce Drugs to Secondary Distributors: Report

Secondary drug distributors acquired about 70% of drugs in short supply from pharmacies, according to a Congressional report that tracked the pedigrees of 300 drugs (PDF) bought and sold on the gray market.

The report, released today during a Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing, is part of the investigation into gray market activity that Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) launched last year.
