An article on the role of mobile clinics in delivering preventive care from The Pew Charitable Trusts highlighted a study published by The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) as a reference. “Mobile Health Clinics in the Era of Reform,” published by AJMC® in 2014, found that Family Van patients who were diagnosed with high blood pressure had significantly lower blood pressure on follow-up visits.
A study published in AJMC® was cited in a patient responsibility news article from Patient EngagementHIT. Research on “The Relationship Between Adherence and Total Spending Among Medicare Beneficiaries With Type 2 Diabetes,” published by AJMC® in April, found that although cost sharing saves Medicare money on pharmaceutical expenses, these savings are likely negated by low medication adherence and eventual health complications.
Healio cited AJMC® as a source for its study on Pharmacogenomics and Psychiatric Clinical Care. A study published by AJMC® in 2014 found evidence that suggests genetic testing for psychiatric illness can be effective for decreasing healthcare costs. The study, “Pharmacogenetic-Guided Psychiatric Intervention Associated With Increased Adherence and Cost Savings,” also found that utilizing pharmacogenetics testing in everyday psychiatric clinical practice can lead to improved patient adherence.
POLITICO’s weekly briefing on pharmaceutical policy news Tuesday included a study published by AJMC® on black box warnings. The article, “The Associated Between FDA Black Box Warnings and Medicare Formulary Coverage Changes,” focused on a study that found that for most drugs with black box warnings, the strongest action the FDA can take, formulary restrictions remained unchanged.
