Newsline’s article on lung cancer screenings cited an article from The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The article, “ALA, ATS Seek Increase in Lung Cancer Screenings With New Healthcare Guide,” covered the American Lung Association and the American Thoracic Society’s unveiling of a Lung Cancer Screening Implementation Guide in an effort to increase the number of people getting screened. The article was also included in OBR Oncology’s Tuesday daily newsfeed.
The National Pharmaceutical Council’s Tuesday CER Daily Newsfeed included a commentary published in the November issue of AJMC®, “Understanding and Improving Value Frameworks With Real-World Patient Outcomes.” The commentary concluded that collective stakeholders that include key decision makers within our healthcare system need to recognize the impact of implementing real-world evidence and devote resources to further research into the chronic disease areas in which the impact of human behavior is amplified by the duration of disease and treatment.
Thursday’s CER Daily Newsfeed highlighted an AJMC® interview with Barbara L. McAneny, MD, president of the American Medical Association. During the interview, McAneny discussed her concerns with proposed changes CMS is looking to make in the Medicare accountable care organization program and with the announced change to allow step therapy in Medicare Advantage plans.
America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP)'s Wednesday Accountable Care SmartBrief included the AJMC® article “Savings Costs While Maintaining Quality of Care—The Value of Biosimilars in Oncology,” which covered a review that found biosimilar products present a viable cost-saving tool for providers participating in value-based care programs such as the Medicare Shared Savings Program or the Oncology Care Model. Thursday's Solutions SmartBrief mentioned the AJMC® article "AHIP Packages Healthcare Affordability Recommendations; ACA Enrollment Dips." The article reported that AHIP released 12 proposals to help increase affordability for people who buy insurance on the individual market who do not qualify for subsidies.
