This month’s issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) includes a study on hospital advertising expenditures, which was highlighted in Becker’s Hospital Review and Health IT Security. The study, “Understanding the Relationship Between Data Breaches and Hospital Advertising Expenditures,” found that a hospital data breach was associated with a 64% increase in annual advertising expenditures. The researchers concluded that efforts to repair the hospital’s image and minimize patient loss to competitors are potential drivers of the increased spending. The study was also included in POLITICO's Friday Morning eHealth.
An article from AJMC® was included in the National Pharmaceutical Council’s Wednesday CER Daily Newsfeed. The article, “Pembrolizumab Superior to Standard of Care in SCC,” covered study findings that determined that among patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, overall survival when treated with pembrolizumab was superior to standard doses of methotrexate, docetaxel, and cetuximab.
The newsfeed also included an AJMC® interview with Robert Daly, MD, MBA, medical oncologist, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. During the interview, Daly discussed how clinical pathways can reduce disparities in breast cancer.
