A special report from Modern Healthcare on achieving transparency in healthcare highlighted a statistic from a study published in the February 2016 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). That study, titled “Characterizing Health Plan Price Estimator Tools: Findings From a National Survey,” found that just 45% of plans with cost-estimator tools used their negotiated rates with providers to calculate the estimate. Incorporating more complete data into transparency tools may increase their impact on consumers’ choices, the report stated.
MobiHealthNews published an article about health technology company AbleTo’s plans to use the $36.6 million in funding it has received from investors. The article referenced a study published in the February 2015 issue of AJMC® that demonstrated the platform’s ability to improve outcomes for health plan enrollees. “Leveraging Remote Behavioral Health Interventions to Improve Medical Outcomes and Reduce Costs” presented encouraging findings, including lower hospitalizations, among Aetna members receiving the AbleTo intervention.
