The study, “Differences in Spending for Diabetes and Multiple Chronic Conditions in Michigan Medicare Beneficiaries,” found that diabetes and multiple chronic conditions increase overall Medicare spending, with spending increases exhibited more prominently in minority beneficiaries compared with White beneficiaries with similar comorbidity combinations.
