An Ohio State News article, “Out-of-network costs soar for non-emergency hospitalizations,” highlighted a study published in the December 2019 issue of AJMC® titled “Cost-Sharing Payments for Out-of-Network Care in Commercially Insured Adults.” The study evaluated claims among adults covered by employer-sponsored plans, and it revealed substantial variations in out-of-network cost-sharing payments, which are growing in occurrence.
