An article by Seeking Alpha supporting investment in the home healthcare company Addus HomeCare cited a study published in The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) to explain why it anticipated opportunities for the company’s growth. “According to the American Journal of Managed Care, February 2015 report, using personal care services results in around 46% decline in the probability of requiring nursing home services,” it reported, referring to the article “Predicting Nursing Home Placement Among Home- and Community-Based Services Program Participants.” The cost savings and improved quality of life resulting from home-based care instead of a nursing home provide solid reasoning to invest in home health, according to Seeking Alpha.
The March issue of AJMC® included an article titled “Scaling Lean in Primary Care: Impacts on System Performance” that found some encouraging results from a practice redesign that incorporated Lean methodology. Both Becker’s Hospital Review and RevCycleIntelligence.com published news stories discussing the study’s findings. “After implementation of Lean redesigns, healthcare facilities saw a 5 percent increase in monthly productivity per physician,” the Becker’s Hospital Review article explained. RevCycleIntelligence noted that “the primary care clinics saw improvements from a revenue cycle management viewpoint, but they also saw some care quality advancements.”
Northern Nevada Business Weekly announced that Anthony Slonim, MD, DrPH, has been nominated for Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” award and mentioned his role as chair of AJMC®’s ACO & Emerging Healthcare Delivery Coalition®. Last year, upon receiving his second nomination for the honor, he discussed his thoughts on leadership in an interview with AJMC® that was published as “What It Means to Be a Physician Leader: A Q&A With Dr Anthony Slonim.”
