What is the value of various stakeholders getting together at the ACO & Emerging Healthcare Delivery Coalition live meetings?
You might meet somebody who is facing the same problem and is looking at it from a different angle you never looked at it from. So being able to exchange ideas and find out what's working for groups, I think, why reinvent the wheel if you can find somebody who has already met the same challenge and they're being successful? Or find out what were their small failures so that you can overcome them quicker and look at things from a different angle.
I think that any meeting that has informational exchange, there's a value. And how do you take that value home and bring it back to your organizations to say, "This is what everybody else is doing" or "This is what this hospital is doing—it's a great idea and they're a similar size to our facility." How can we look at that as an implementation and learn from others versus just being out there by yourself.
Insurance reform and healthcare reform: We're all in it together. It's not something that's individual to one state or one city. We're all dealing with the same problems, and how can we as a group band together to resolve them and be there in the end for the patients that we serve? Because that's why we're here. Whether it's insurance reform or anything like that, hospitals and doctors offices and free clinics, we all need to be there to care for people.
