Minkoff
Along with so many in the field of managed care, the team at The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) was saddened to learn of the loss of our friend Neil Minkoff, MD, on May 4, 2022. For more than a decade, Dr Minkoff brought his knowledge and energy to a host of projects, the scope of which grew in diversity and complexity as our brand expanded into new areas. As AJMC® grew, so did Dr Minkoff’s role with us—he served as a writer, on-air host, trainer, and sounding board for ideas.
Dr Minkoff served as a moderator for more than a dozen AJMC® PeerExchange and Stakeholder Summit programs, which covered topics that ranged from multiple sclerosis to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to cardiorenal metabolic syndrome. His versatility made him a go-to resource for discussions that traversed clinical and payer considerations, as he understood the points that our readers and listeners weighed in their decision-making.
Collaborations with AJMC® increased after April 2020, when Dr Minkoff joined COEUS Consulting as chief medical officer. A year later, Dr Minkoff and his COEUS colleagues addressed an important topic in reimbursement—how to pay for incredibly expensive, one-time treatments—when they published, “The Impact of Reinsurance of Gene Therapies on Employer Financial Risk,” in Evidence-Based Oncology™ (EBO).
Dr Minkoff was still collaborating with us when he died this spring. This summer, his colleagues at COEUS worked with the AJMC® editorial staff to complete a 2-part project on the future of telehealth, which appeared online and in this issue of EBO. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Dr Minkoff’s wife, Joyce, his family, his colleagues at COEUS Consulting, and to the many former colleagues and friends who were affected and saddened by his passing.
From everyone at The American Journal of Managed Care®
