ACCC's 2-Part Trending Now in Cancer Care Report Available
The newest "Trending Now in Cancer Care Report" from the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) focuses on overcoming challenges in such areas as patient engagement, workforce recruitment and retention, artificial intelligence clinical decision support tools, and research and clinical trials.

Rockville, Maryland — The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) has released its newest annual "Trending Now in Cancer Care Report," and it focuses on strategies to overcome challenges in these 8 areas: payer-driven challenges, patient engagement, new care delivery models, workforce issues, business intelligence (BI) solutions, artificial intelligence clinical decision support tools, precision medicine, and research and clinical trials.

"This year’s Trending Now in Cancer Care report reinforces that we have no shortage of creative solutions to many challenges in cancer care delivery,” said Olalekan Ajayi, PharmD, MBA, ACCC president. “Now we must take these proposed solutions and put them into action in cancer programs across the country. Leadership should analyze these insights to understand what strategies they can implement to improve the patient and provider experience.”
The report details such priorities as improving morale and resiliency and addressing burnout among the workforce, streamlining clinical workflows and improving business and financial operations by implementing BI tools and technology, increasing patient diversity in clinical trials, and optimizing patient engagement. Proposed solutions include partnering with patient advocates and community health workers to who can help to better address social determinants of health, create funding streams that support programs that address workforce burnout and build resiliency, and hiring additional advanced practice providers.
