Top Pediatric Dermatologists Gather in Seattle for SPD 2025

The world’s leading pediatric dermatologists will convene in Seattle, Washington, from July 23-26, 2025, for the Society for Pediatric Dermatology’s (SPD) 50th Annual Meeting, a landmark event showcasing the latest breakthroughs in treating skin, hair, and nail conditions in children.

From genetic testing to social determinants of health, this 4-day gathering will feature expert-led discussions and innovative solutions shaping the future of pediatric dermatologic care.

Founded in 1975, SPD is the only national organization in the US solely dedicated to the field of pediatric dermatology. With over 2000 members worldwide, SPD aims to embody a collaborative community of clinicians, educators, and researchers committed to improving the skin health and quality of life of children. Additionally, the society advocates for equitable access to dermatologic care and strives to create inclusive, supportive environments for both patients and professionals.

As SPD celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, it continues to lead with a legacy of community and care for children.

Hot Topics in Pediatric Dermatology

This year, the meeting will feature an exciting lineup of hot topic sessions that reflect the evolving landscape of pediatric dermatologic care. Attendees will explore a wide range of timely and complex issues, including acne in children of color, inpatient drug eruptions, and managing obesity through a dermatologic lens. Sessions will also dive into the latest therapeutic advancements, from biologics and targeted therapies to innovations in pediatric dermatology therapeutics. Experts will examine genetic counseling and testing in clinical settings, with focused discussions on conditions such as congenital melanocytic nevi, graft-vs-host disease, mucosal disease, and vascular anomalies. In addition, presentations will address the critical role of social determinants of health in patient outcomes and spotlight standout clinical cases from this year.

Honoring Dr Robert Sidbury

The meeting will feature a special session dedicated to the life and work of the late Robert Sidbury, MD, MPH, chief of dermatology, Seattle Children’s Hospital. Speakers include: Markus Boos, MD, pediatric dermatologist, Seattle Children's Hospital; Heather Brandling-Bennett, MD, pediatric dermatologist, Seattle Children's Hospital; Dawn Davis, MD, dermatologist, Mayo Clinic Rochester; Lawrence Eichenfield, MD, pediatric and adolescent dermatologist, UCSD/Rady Children's Hospital; Deepti Gupta, MD, dermatologist, Seattle Children's Hospital; Peter Lio, MD, clinical assistant professor, Northwestern University; Amy Paller, MD, chair of the department of dermatology, Northwestern University; and Ginna Sybert, MD, dermatologist, Seattle Children's Hospital.

Afternoon Activities

On Thursday, several popular tours will be taking place for attendees, including a Pike Place Market tasting tour, a waterfront bicycle tour, a historic walking tour, and a Ballard Locks boat tour.

CME Accreditation

The SPD 50th Annual Meeting is also accredited for continuing medical education (CME) through the joint providership of the National Association for Continuing Education (NACE) and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. NACE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide CME for physicians.
