In support of the pediatric heart treatment program at the Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, local businessman Gene Reed Jr has donated $5 million. The new hospital is expected to open this fall.
The facility's Gene Reed Jr Heart Floor will include 2 cetheterization/electrophysiology suites and 2 cardiac-specific operating suites. It will also allow for hybrid catheterization procedures for the diagnosis and advanced treatment of children born with congenital heart defects. Read more on the new hospital.
