The Wednesday Accountable Care SmartBrief from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) included an article from The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The article, “Azar Appoints Senior Advisor for Value-Based Care in the United States,” reported on the news that Adam Boehler, director of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, is taking on an additional role as the senior advisor for value-based transformation and innovation.
An AHIP blog post included a study published in the February 2017 issue of AJMC®, “Value-Based Contracting Innovated Medicare Advantage Healthcare Delivery and Improved Survival.” The study found that elderly Medicare Advantage members with multiple chronic conditions attained a survival benefit from more cost-effective care when a private plan developed gainshare and monetary risk-bearing arrangements with its contracted providers.
