Episode 18 - Impact of Obesity on Cardiometabolic Events

Video

During this segment, Michael Weber, MD, explores obesity and its impact on cardiovascular health outcomes.

Dr Weber believes that it is difficult to conclude whether or not managing obesity will effectively provide better results, as no definitive clinical trials have tested this theory. He explains that there is no current evidence that reveals that a reduction in weight will reduce the number of strokes, heart attacks, or other events.

Regardless, Dr Weber still feels that physicians should practice reducing patients’ body mass indexes to help lower the risk for developing cardiovascular events.
