American Oncology Network Remains Committed to Closing the Gap in Cancer Care
The American Oncology Network is committed to reducing health inequities and close the gap in cancer care.
Cancer remains the leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 1.8 million Americans receiving a cancer diagnosis every year and 600,000 dying. While there have been advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, barriers to care continue to negatively impact cancer care.
Most Americans receiving cancer treatment do so in community oncology practices, which are able to cloes the gap in cancer care becaues they provide easy and convenient access to care and a cmoprehensive range of treatments close to the patient's home. With 70 clinics in 16 states, the American Oncology Network (AON), continues to strive to close the cancer care gap by providing affordable care that is close to home.
“We have made great strides in just three years,” AON CEO Todd Schonherz said in a statement. “Close to 160,000 patients have received treatment at AON clinics across the country and we’ve welcomed over 70,000 new patients. Our in-house laboratory has processed over 7.7 million clinical lab tests and almost 6100 pathology specimens. And our specialty pharmacy has delivered over 63,540 scripts.”
