An article from Becker’s ASC Review referenced a study published in the April 2024 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The first, “Changes in Specialty Care Use and Leakage in Medicare Accountable Care Organizations,” was published in the May 2018 issue and found that leakage of specialty care changed minimally in the Medicare Shared Savings Program. The second, “Accountable Care Organization Initiatives to Improve the Cost and Outcomes of Specialty Care,” was released in the May 2024 issue and found that engaging specialists in accountable care has numerous challenges and represents an emerging area for accountable care organizations.
