Thousands of U.S. hospitals will soon ramp up efforts to improve a patient’s experience since next fall bedside manners will factor in to how a hospital gets paid. Medicare will be able to withhold 1%, which will double to 2% in 2017. The new program is part of health care reform’s efforts to improve quality of care while trimming costs.
To improve patient satisfaction, all hospital employees have to learn about customer service and some hospitals are even creating departments dedicating to ensuring a good patient experience.
