The World Saw 14.9 million New Cases of Cancer in 2013, Reports JAMA Oncology Study
An international study has estimated that in 2013, there were 14.9 million newly diagnosed cases of cancer and 8.2 million deaths around the world.
An international study published in the JAMA Oncology has estimated that in 2013, there were 14.9 million newly diagnosed cases of cancer and 8.2 million deaths around the world. Called The Global Burden of Disease study, it was conducted by the Global Burden of Disease Cancer Collaboration group. The researchers studied 28 cancers in 188 countries from 1990 to 2013, and found that the percentage of cancer deaths as a part of all deaths incerased from 12% in 1990to 15% in 2013.
While tracheal, bronchus and lung cancer was the leading cause for cancer death in men and women, breast cancer was the leading cause of lost years of healthy life in women and for men it was lung cancer.
