Advancements in ocular technology, teleretinal imaging, and low-vision aids, including artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses, were highlighted in research posters at the Southeastern Congress of Optometry 2025.
Advancements in ocular technology, teleretinal imaging, and clinical management were key themes at the Southern Educational Congress of Optometry (SECO) 2025, held from February 26 to March 2 in Atlanta, Georgia. Research highlighted wearable ocular technologies like AI-powered smart glasses, head-mounted devices, and low-vision aids. Clinical cases covered tele-retinal imaging for sclerochoroidal calcification, toric contact lenses for Stargardt’s disease, and enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) for detecting optic nerve head drusen in children. These findings showcased the impact of emerging tools in optometric care.
