Spring NAMCP Forum to Focus on Value-Based Care, Updates in Disease States
Complete with business, health management, and oncology tracks, sessions at the National Association of Managed Care Physicians (NAMCP) Spring Managed Care Forum will focus on a variety of topics.
The National Association of Managed Care Physicians Forum (NAMCP) Spring Managed Care Forum will kick-off this week with in-person sessions taking place in Orlando, Florida, on April 21-22.
Complete with business, health management, and oncology tracks, sessions will focus on a variety of topics, spanning health care consolidation to new developments in the treatment of heart failure.
Experts representing both health plans and university medical centers are slated to speak, with Dexter Shurney, MD, chief medical officer of Adventist Health, scheduled to deliver the keynote address “Food As Medicine” on Thursday April 21.
“It’s always a great time when I’m at NAMCP,” Shurney said in an interview with The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). “I just want to raise awareness, I want to show people the power of food as I have learned for myself,” he said, adding that his talk will focus on how individuals can better incorporate diet decisions into their own personal lives.
Value-based care will also serve as a running theme throughout the forum, with sessions including “Strengthening Payer Relations Within Value-Based Care Arrangements” and “Transitioning Providers From Fee-For-Service to Value-Based Contracts" taking place.
Additional talks will highlight updates in disease management and new therapeutic advancements for conditions like pulmonary arterial hypertension, acute myeloid leukemia, non–small cell lung cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease, among others.
On the financial side, Business Track sessions include presentations on preventing patients from becoming super-users and aligning physician groups to maximize managed care performance.
The conference, which takes place in the spring and fall each year, is a joint endeavor of the American Association of Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems, the American Association of Managed Care Nurses, and the NAMCP Medical Directors Institute.
Previous iterations have included presentations on overcoming hurdles to promote biosimilar uptake in oncology and examining social determinants of health in a commercially insured health care workplace.
According to the host organizations, objectives for the NAMCP Spring Forum include providing attendees with:
- Up-to-date and accurate information on today's issues concerning the delivery of care
- Up-to-date and accurate information on advances in clinical treatments in all disease states
- Marketplace best practices within the business side of health care delivery
- Lessons learned regarding marketplace methods to improve patient outcomes
Continuing education opportunities will also be available for attendees.
