The meaningful-use work group of the federally chartered Health IT Policy Committee will have its first batch of Stage 3 preliminary recommendations for the committee's Aug. 1 meeting, said Dr. Paul Tang, vice chairman of the committee and chairman of the work group. The HHS advisory committee, as well as an electronic health-record incentive payment program, of which meaningful-use criteria are an integral part, were created under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
