OneOncology and the South Carolina-based Coastal Cancer Center recently announced the acquisition of 2 community-based radiation oncology centers.
OneOncology and Coastal Cancer Center announced the purchase of 2 radiation oncology centers from GenesisCare. These newly acquired centers are located in Conway and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
OneOncology is a nation-wide, physician-led organization that includes 1000 providers, offering care to over 640,000 patients per year. As a company, OneOncology invests in the growth of its 20 partnerships through the addition of services, physicians, and patient care locations to bolster accessibility to more affordable, quality care. As a part of the new deal with GenesisCare, 40 employees and 3 radiation oncologists will be transferring to Coastal Cancer Center. These individuals will offer patient care at each new facility.

The Coastal Cancer Center’s spectrum of care is expanding through this transaction.
“Adding radiation oncology allows our practice to expand the care we can provide to communities in Horry and its surrounding counties,” commented Emily Touloukian, DO, president of Coastal Cancer Center, Community Oncology Alliance executive committee member, and past president of the South Carolina Oncology Society. “We are excited to work alongside our new radiation oncologist partners and their team to continue building strong relationships throughout the South Carolina physician community and deliver high-quality cancer care to individuals in our communities where they live and work.”
At present, the Conway center has 1 linear accelerator, and the Myrtle Beach center contains 3. A linear accelerator produces multiple forms of external-beam radiation therapy. These devices accurately deliver treatment to spare healthy tissue in a given area and are often used for patients with cancers of the skin, brain, lungs, cervix, breast, prostate, neck or head. In the acquisition of these 2 facilities, patients will have essential access to their region’s only community-based radiation treatment centers.
“By helping Coastal Cancer Center expand into radiology oncology, OneOncology is fulfilling its mission to assist our independent practice partners by identifying and executing strategies to remain independent, grow, and bring high-value cancer care services to their patients, employers, and payers,” added Jeff Patton, MD, CEO of OneOncology. “We look forward to continuing our work with Dr. Touloukian and her physician partners to enhance cancer care in South Carolina.”
