A new clinical pathways program at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) will help inform treatment by seamlessly integrating into the physician’s electronic health record (EHR).
CTCA is collaborating with NantHealth and AllScripts to create treatment options customized to CTCA’s standard of care and available to the physician at the point of care without interrupting the clinical workflow. The program uses NantHealth’s clinical decision support solution, eviti and the Allscripts Sunrise EHR.
“Clinical Pathways presents all appropriate treatment options. It also helps eliminate potential guesswork by clinicians routinely inundated with new data and oncology research,” George Daneker Jr, MD, chief medical officer at CTCA at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, said in a statement.
The clinical pathways program will provide the latest cancer research, treatment regimens, and complementary therapies in the physician’s EHR. The platform not only provides custom treatment regimens, but also allows for comparison between treatment options and the average cost of care.
The information provided to the program comes from the Evidence-Based Medical Library, which has more than 2700 evidence-based treatment regimens for all cancers and cancer subtypes and all modalities.
"The eviti solution plays an integral role in bringing together the Clinical Pathways platform by allowing physicians access to real-time evidence-based treatment regimens for all types of cancer," said Bobby Reddy, senior executive director of medical affairs of NantHealth. "The collective technology is proving to be a game changer for cancer care—allowing communication with all key stakeholders to occur more efficiently from prognosis to diagnosis to treatment.
