As a part of the changing value-based payment model landscape, pay-for-performance (P4P) programs for medication adherence measures are new for physicians and providers need help understanding what the program is, explained Mitzi Wasik,
Since providers see such different patient populations and operate in diverse settings, a one-size-fits-all P4P model is no longer the answer.
"Now we're in this new landscape where a patient has to get their bone mineral density test, what happens after that?" Ms Wasik asks. "What medicaiton are they put on? If they have a fall, what happens after the fall? And so we're looking at a more longitudinal type of pay for performance landscape that is now unfolding."
