Infographic: One ACO's Recipe for Shared Savings Success

In the June issue of The American Journal of Accountable Care®, authors described how their accountable care organization achieved impressive shared savings.

The Hackensack Physician—Hospital Alliance, an accountable care organization (ACO) in New Jersey, generated a substantial amount of shared savings from the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2015. In a recent article published in The American Journal of Accountable Care®, ACO staff describe how these savings were calculated, why they were higher than in previous years, and how other organizations can achieve similar results.

Some of the highlights from the recommendations include a focus on reducing “low-hanging fruit,” or preventable readmissions, as well as the suggestion to incorporate nurse coordinators who can help practices manage high-risk patients and meet quality standards.
