This month’s issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) features results of a partnership between the Maine Medical Center and the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, which created a program that tailors meals for high-risk Medicare patients leaving the hospital. The study, “Simply Delivered meals: A Tale of Collaboration,” was highlighted by The Daily Times, a daily newspaper in Tennessee.

OBR Oncology’s Tuesday newsfeed included an article published in this month's issue of Evidence-Based Oncology, a sister publication of AJMC®. “Perspective: FDA/CMS Parallel Review Advances Coverage for Cancer Comprehensive Genomic Profiling,” provides insight into the regulatory path that led to the approval of FoundationOne CDx, the second product to pursue FDA/CMS dual review, paving the way for comprehensive genomic profiling in patients with advanced cancer.

The National Pharmaceutical Council’s Wednesday CER Daily Newsfeed mentioned an AJMC® interview with Adrian F. Hernandez, MD, MHS, vice dean, clinical research, Duke University School of Medicine. During the interview, Hernandez discusses how technology can be used to improve the way we gather and use real-world evidence, the promise that real-world evidence holds, and how he thinks real-world evidence will be used in the coming years.

An article from Benefits Pro on using technology to improve employees’ healthcare experiences included the AJMC® published study, “Opportunity Costs of Ambulatory Medical Care in the United States.” The study found that in the United States, opportunity costs associated with ambulatory medical care are substantial. They concluded that accounting for patient opportunity costs is important for examining US healthcare system efficiency and for evaluating methods to improve the efficient delivery of patient-centered care.
