Health Equity Accreditation Awarded to Priority Health
The nonprofit health plan, based in Michigan, was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its work toward providing equitable, affordable, high-quality health care.
Grand Rapids, Michigan — For the second time in 5 months, Priority Health has been recognized for its' committment toward equitable health care for members. In October, Praveen Thadani, president, received the Bernard J. Tyson Health Equity Award for his dedication to increasing health equity and addressing coverage and care disparities.
“Priority Health places a high value on providing equitable access to care and understands the critical need for better understanding of our populations,” said Shannon Wilson, vice president of population health and health equity at Priority Health. “We look forward to implementing new initiatives aimed at improving the health care experience for vulnerable populations.”
Among Priority's many health equity offerings, the PriorityMom program is constantly working toward reducing maternity care costs and total preterm births and bilingual CPR kits have been distributed through a partnership with the American Heart Association, and Hackley Community Care, based in Maranda and Muskegon, Michigan.
