Episode 19 - - Initiatives Aim to Control Cardiometabolic Events

Video

During this segment, Yehuda Handelsman, MD, FACP, FACE, FNLA, and Kenneth L. Schaecher, MD, FACP, CPC, discuss how organizations are developing programs that aim to help control diabetes and the obesity epidemic.

Dr Handelsman believes that as clinicians continue to individualize the management of cardiometabolic events and treat patients with single-agents that treat multiple conditions, our country is at the forefront of controlling future events.

For this reason, Dr Schaecher explains the importance of healthcare programs such as the National Diabetes Prevention Program and other nationwide initiatives that provide guidance to clinicians on a local level and force patient involvement. Dr Schaecher expresses that when controlling cardiometabolic events, patient involvement is vital.

Because patient involvement includes localized initiatives, Dr Handelsman and Dr Schaecher conclude their discussion by explaining how community resources are taking steps to ensure patient involvement.
