Dr Sachin Jain Explains How Patients Benefit from a Learning Health System

Video

Most patients expect that the healthcare system can already learn from every clinical encounter, but the reality is that is not happening yet, said Sachin Jain, MD, MBA, chief medical officer at CareMore Health System.

A learning healthcare system is not only about learning from every single interaction in the healthcare system but also understanding how each clinical encounter improves healthcare delivery in some way, said Sachin Jain, MD, MBA, chief medical officer at CareMore Health System and editorial board member of The American Journal of Managed Care.

“I think the idea is how do we actually use the digital infrastructure that’s been created in healthcare over the last 5 to 10 years to actually create a system in which we’re learning every day from every interaction and that those learning’s are actually used to improve the quality of patient care,” Dr Jain says.
