To create a strong sense of co-ownership between health systems and physicians, Robert Williams, MD, Director, Deloitte, Consulting LLP, says it’s important to encourage physician engagement with organizations. One way to collaborate is through shared decision-making in clinical, financial, or other key areas that provide value-based care. "In my experience of working with physicians over the last 20 years found that physicians really need to understand the clarity of the decision making process and know where they fit in," said Dr Williams. This decision rights model is a way to engage a sense of trust that is key to creating co-ownership between the physician and health system.
