Officials overseeing Delaware’s implementation of the federal health care reform law still don’t know what residents will pay for health care coverage under a new state health insurance exchange.
Officials expect to begin enrolling some 35,000 people in the health insurance exchange starting Oct. 1, for coverage effective Jan. 1, 2014.
But officials said Thursday at a meeting of the Delaware Health Care Commission that they still don’t know how much the premiums for the various insurance plans in the exchange will cost, and that they probably won’t know until enrollment actually begins.
But officials were quick to point out that individuals with incomes up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level will be eligible for premium subsidies in the form of advance tax credits.
