How do features in Flatiron's OncoEMR help practices reduce costs and succeed in value-based models?
At the end of the day, these alternative payment models are requiring that you either reduce costs or improve outcomes, improve quality. We’ve actually kicked off an initiative at flatiron we’re starting to call it “Quality and Cost of Care Initiatives” because at the end of the day, those are the 2 levers that really matter and we talk to practices all the time and you can approach them from both sides but you kind of have to look at both.
I think the way we think about it is first and foremost, we have to give you the data, we have to give you the dashboard that enable you and empower you to figure out where are the problem spots are where you need to lean in. And so, that’s what our reports aim to do, that’s what our [Oncology Care Model] dashboard and team aims to help support on.
The other side of it is I’m seeing really innovative solutions across our practices in thinking about new ways to tackle what you do with that data. So, practices across the board are rolling out new initiatives to help really enhance the areas of the workflow they see will drive the most value in their practice and their patient populations. So, things like really robust nurse triage, workflows that enable them to find the right interceptions at the right time and get ahead of the curve so patients don’t end up in the [emergency room] for example or, you know, just really rolling out the right kinds of screening—pain screening, depression screening—all these different components at the right point and the right interception time with our patient care.
There’s really, really exciting things happening that we see across all of our practices.
