Andrew J. M. Boulton, MD, describes the impact of non-invasive glucose monitoring devices on patient monitoring adherence and hospital admission rates and costs. Theoretically, patients using non-invasive glucose monitoring devices will better adhere to regular monitoring than with invasive devices; however, Dr. Boulton says that there is a need for controlled trials to provide evidence-based data to support this conclusion.
