An article by MIT Technology Review referenced a study published in the January 2019 Health Information Technology special issue of The American Journal of Managed Care®. The study, “Drivers of Health Information Exchange Use During Postacute Care Transitions,” showed that health information exchange offers significant potential to address unmet informational needs during transitions between hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, but workflow barriers and design limitations currently limit its value.
