An article published on DOTmed about a doctor who was stabbed by a patient cited an article published on AJMC.com, the website of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The article, “Violence Against Healthcare Workers: A Rising Epidemic,” was originally published in 2019 and found that 75% of nearly 25,000 workplace assaults occur annually in health care settings. The article notes that the government is working to help protect these workers, but advocacy groups feel more meaningful changes are needed.
A story published in SELF magazine on the COVID-19 pandemic reaching its 1-year anniversary in the United States cited “A Timeline of COVID-19 Developments in 2020,” published on AJMC.com. Although the first case of COVID-19 in the United States was reported in January, it was not until March that the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic and the United States announced a national emergency.
A Daily Independent piece referenced an AJMC® study published in 2019 titled “Patient and Clinician Experiences With Telehealth for Patient Follow-up Care.” The study found that when comparing virtual video visits with in-person office visits, 63% of patients and 59% of clinicians reported no difference in overall visit quality. Researchers concluded that for established patients, these virtual visits may provide effective follow-up and enhanced convenience compared with in-person appointments.
