A piece by HealthPayerIntelligence referenced a study published in the June 2020 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The study, “Value-Based Insurance Design in Louisiana: Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Zero Dollar Co-pay Program,” found that enrollment in a value-based insurance design program that eliminated pharmacy co-pays for 4 chronic disease drug classes was associated with a large decline in health care spending.
A study published in the September 2020 issue of AJMC® was referenced in an article by SHRM. The study, “Policies to Address Surprise Billing Can Affect Health Insurance Premiums,” showed that in addition to protecting patients from receiving unexpected bills, policies to address surprise billing could reduce health insurance premiums by 1% to 5%.
A newscast by Spectrum News 1 spotlighted an article published on AJMC.com, the website of AJMC®. The article, “FDA's Revised Blood Donation Guidance for Gay Men Still Courts Controversy,” covered an FDA announcement that relaxed restrictions on gay men being allowed to donate blood, in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Under the new guidance, a man seeking to donate blood would need to wait only 3 months, instead of 1 year, after having sex with another man.
