A piece by Law 360 spotlighted a study published in the September 2020 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The study, “Policies to Address Surprise Billing Can Affect Health Insurance Premiums,” found that in addition to protecting patients from receiving unexpected bills, policies to address surprise billing could reduce health insurance premiums by 1% to 5%.
A blog posted by DailyNurse referenced an article published on AJMC.com, the website of AJMC®. The article, “Racial Disparities Persist in Maternal Morbidity, Mortality and Infant Health,” highlighted review findings presented at the American Diabetes Association’s 80th Scientific Sessions. The study found that American women die in childbirth at a higher rate than in any other developed country, while non-Hispanic Black women are more than 3 times more likely to have a maternal death than white women in the United States.
