The study, “The Impact of HDHPs on Service Use and Spending for Substance Use Disorders,” indicated that offering a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) led to a 6.6% reduction in the probability of using substance use disorder services and a shift in spending from the plan to the enrollee.

The article, “Gender, Department Linked With Length of Hospital Stay for Patients With Community-Acquired Infections,” covered study findings showing an association for male sex and admittance to the Pulmonology or Surgery department with an increased risk of hospitalization for more than 6 days due to community-acquired infections.
