Advances in the understanding of tumor biology have led to the development of new classes of oncology medications, which provide clinicians and patients with additional therapeutic options for many forms of cancer. However, substantial costs are associated with these medications, and payers are charged with developing coverage policies to ensure that their members receive appropriate, cost-effective care.
